Neil Gaiman, let’s be realistic. A 21-year-old working in the home of a man four decades her senior cannot truly give meaningful consent to any type of sexual encounter, let alone within mere hours of meeting him. Even though you are denying it was not consensual, the fact you have conceded the sexual encounter did happen at all is a full confession. You are, by your own admission, a predator.

this isn't at all meant to be condescending or finger-waggy because 100% we all have blind spots like this, but I'm really, really hoping that the people who never found Gaiman's approach to his own fandom concerning in any way will take this all as a learning moment.

he was an older, hyper-famous author engaging directly and frequently with an online audience of largely vulnerable young marginalized people. he presented himself as cultured and worldly, and made himself approachable as someone to go to for advice, encouragement and "wisdom." his manner of speech was extremely pathos-heavy and clearly intended to be comforting and encouraging in exactly the way his target demographic needed it to be to swallow every word. the way he spoke about stories and creativity was designed to make young creative hopefuls feel special and important, while sweeping real analytical techniques under the rug - in hindsight, likely so no one would think too critically about the disturbing amount of patriarchal abuse played for cheap shock value and voyerism in his own body of works.

Gaiman saw a target demographic that was desperate for an older creative role model to tell them they were worth something, and he exploited that pain to twist a narrative around himself where he was king and any critique leveled at him or his works were the enemy.

to be clear, he could have been innocent. he could totally have been just an out-of-touch old man saying nice things to people because he wanted to be kind and he thought he was a lot smarter than he really was. red flags are warning signs, not a surefire way to tell if someone is actually "secretly shitty."

but if you used to look up to him, PLEASE take this moment to revisit the ideas you absorbed from him. did you take his words to heart because they seemed to have objective merit? or did you take them to heart because it felt good to believe what he said? do you still hold these values? does knowing he was intentionally manipulating his online audience make you less certain? do you need more information from a different source before deciding one way or another?

again, I'm just really, really hoping people on here will take a moment to reevaluate the ideas and opinions he's injected into tumblr fandom culture, because his reach is immense and he has absolutely been manipulating popular perception of relevant topics to gain further influence and control the narrative around both his own and Pratchett's legacy. please, please take this moment to notice what he's been doing - and next time someone tries to pull the same shit, hopefully we'll be able to apply what we've learned from experience.

I KINDA FORGOT ABOUT IT TIL THIS ASK, I don't know what I want my next big project to be but this is making me consider picking the leshy amv back up as the next project. It has a bunch of finished animated loops but there's SOOO much work that needs to be done on the actual main drawings.....I have a few other videos that the animatics are like *done* for, they just don't have complete art.

Danny was getting close, so very, very close. He sat on his bed. No, the bed. It wasn’t his bed, no matter how many nights he had slept in it, it was Jason’s, and he wasn’t Jason. He wasn’t. No, he was Danny. He liked stars and space, not “Pride and Prejudice", and loved his sister, Jazz, not these lunatics of siblings. His favorite color was yellow, not red (never green). 

That’s who he was. 

…right?

Right.

He squeezed his eyes shut, spots dancing in front of them as he cleared the thoughts. 

He’s not focusing on that. He’s focusing on the buzzing, the humming. He can feel it under his skin, writhing and squirming like worms. He squints, staring at a wayward ant resolutely marching across the carpet. Ants are brave, he thinks. So small, so fragile, but tenacious all the same. 

Focus. Come on, Danny. He’s focusing right now. On what?

His pinky. He’s focusing on his pinky, he knows this. 

He feels weird. Lethargic. It’s been too long.

It’s been too long, he’s lethargic.

The buzzing builds. Danny squints. An acorn plinks on the windowsill. It’s funny, he thinks, how acorns have little hats.

FOCUS. His pinky. His right pinky. 

He remembers this, this buzzing. When he first got his powers. Like his mind was swimming through molasses. Too much, too much, too much. Just too much. He was expanding, him, his awareness, his everything, and it was too much. He couldn’t keep up. He couldn’t-

He couldn’t keep up. 

Focus. He tastes watermelon. Sweet, a little mushy (overripe, maybe), juice dribbling down his chin. Why does he taste watermelon?

Ah. He remembers. The picnic, when he was seven. It doesn’t seem so long ago, now. Perhaps it’s still happening. Perhaps it’s always happening. Maybe, he’s still eating the watermelon. That’d be nice, he thinks. He was happy then. 

Happy. It was a good picnic, except for the flies. They buzzed. Buzz, buzz, buzz. It was loud, the buzzing, almost like static, like his brain was a broken TV. Buzz. It made him feel like he would vibrate out of his skin, like there were worms underneath. Writhing. Squirming. 

He hears buzzing.

FOCUS. The buzzing. The worms. The pinky. The power. 

There! His pinky. Invisible. He pushes it, slowly, through the blanket. Intangible. Good. He smiles. It’s bitter. Empty. 

It doesn’t matter. He doesn’t matter.

He’s close. He’s so very, very, close. 

…

The buzzing doesn’t stop.

Butbutbut Nexus and Sun aren't siblings in this au!

This is my Come as you Are au! (Au name a wip lmao). In this au Sun agreed to join Sol (dark sun) on one condition: that he didn't betray Nexus and kept him safe, and that Sun got to be with him again. Sol agreed, so now Sol, Sun, and Nexus just kind of live together

They, Sun and Nexus, got to reset their relationship just as friends, since Nexus isn't Moon. And it... grew to become more.

And its a teensy bit of Dark sun "subtly" competing for Sun's affection with Nexus, while Sun is just like "I have two hands" (but Sol doesn't want to share with a moon, but begrudgingly does as Nexus shows him more and more that he isn't a moon)

Edit: okay, uh- its like 2 days later and this has been sitting in my drafts. Im feeling a lot better but yall still have to hear about my aus

Uh- Nexus gets redeemed and him and Moon move in together. They're science buddies and Nexus starts to get a crush on Moon and stuff happens and they experiment with each other. Idk I just really like the ship. Also Moon threatens Monty and they stop being friends!!!! And the family just kind of hates Monty, including Earth. Idk I just like them its neat

Now, do I like how it turned out? No. I don't.

No idea, I don't think it looks quite like I wanted it to look, but at some point we just have to stop and consider it done. It was supposed to be a very quick thing and then it wasn't - but, I do like how the blood turned out at least.

And kudos to my random playlist for starting to play Doce Vampiro (Sweet Vampire) by Rita Lee while I was drawing and making me grin absurdly as the lyrics went by - "that you drink me hot, like a liquor, making a toast to death and making love [...] kiss my mouth, until you kill me". I didn't really want to make this kind of post, but here it is. I'm doing a doodle donation thing, where every donation gets a sketchy doodle. Doesn't matter what you donate, it'll all be the same type of doodle so I can get them out faster.

The reason behind this is kind of personal, but recently the owner of the house we live in died and everything's been shoved onto us. Originally, we rented but now we have to pay practically everything to continue living here (if the owner's family allows after everything is said and done).

I don't get a lot a month as a streamer. On top of my own bills, I now have to make sure we're stocked on essentials and necessities as well as make sure we don't end up having to scrounge, scrimp and save to afford what we may need/have to get over time. And help with the bills. And make sure we don't find ourselves in a worse situation (aka even more in poverty than we already are).

So yeah. Things have changed, hence why I'm doing this.
